When you live next door to monsters, your definition of monster has to change. The 21st century seems to be teaching us that. It used to be legal to kill a lycanthrope or a vampire on sight, even in the good ol' U.S. of A. Now? Addison v. Clarke tells us that vampires are citizens too. Not only can you not kill a vampire without a court order, but soon they'll be able to vote. Lycanthropes have it harder - even in the states where it's now illegal to kill us on sight, discrimination is so prominent that nearly all of us play human.
That's right, us. My name is Mina O'Connor, and I am Ulfric to the Aesir Labyrinth Clan. In your terms, I'm the werewolf king of San Diego. My pack, my family, and I are only some of the many supernatural creatures living and working alongside you. The vampires don't need to worry about hiding themselves - they thrive on the aura of mystery that draws humans like moths to the flame. But those of us among the 'lunarly-challenged'? Well...
We keep ourselves hidden, humans by day and creatures out of legend when the moon waxes full. In California, we have the same rights as everyone else - after all, lycanthropy is a disease, not a crime. But that doesn't let us keep our jobs if our bosses find out. That doesn't keep our children safe.
The world has a lot to learn before they understand us. We have our own laws, and as king my word is law. If we have our way, maybe you'll never learn. When you can be hunted as easily as you hunt, secrecy is safety.
But who knows. Seek us out, and maybe you'll learn.
The pack awaits you.
