Appearance
Is an albino, which leads her to have to take care of her skin, which can burn easily and also to wear glasses or contacts in order to be able to see. Her skin is very pale, her hair almost white, and her eyes pink or red. She often wears long sleeves in winter and covers up as much as she can to protect herself.
Personality
One word: manipulation. Linda Friitawa shows the beginnings of psychopathy. She seems demure and shy on the outside, listening to orders, but in the end she's only ever after her own gain. She possesses little to no human empathy, but can fake it expertly. She is a very focused and cunning individual; her eyes never leave her goal. She is after power, but her confidence can blind her easily and she is very egotistical.
It does not matter if she seems to be listening to you; Linda can seem to be gentle, friendly, and most often weak, but one should not be fooled by her mimicry. She measures every movement, or she tries, but is known to be impatient. Yet, she's a quick study and very observant. She is always on the look out for weaknesses and once she finds them, she'll pluck at them with her fingers. Her purpose is to unravel you, dispose of you, or to use you to further her victories. She possessive, obsessive, and finds pleasure in nothing more than the wielding of supreme and superior power over someone else.
Abilities:
-Observation—Linda learned from a very young age that body language and facial expression were crucial in order to discern a person's thoughts and their attitude towards her. She watches people and mentally notes their actions and the subtle changes in facial expression in order to formulate her next move. She also tries to be aware always of her surroundings in order to be use the environment against someone. Whether its personality or the scenery Linda pays attention.
-Intellect—Excellent grades and a sharp wit and mind, Linda's at the very least booksmart. She knows what she's talking about, when she talks about it at least when takes the time. This allows her to be able to logically derive plans and think actions and situations through, along with her observation it is one of the best tools she has. Though with her intellect, she can often be rash and assume she knows, when she hasn't done enough research or thinking.
-Manipulation—The ability to negotiate, control, or influence (something or someone) cleverly, skilfully, or deviously. Because of her observation skills and much practice which has given her knowledge on human behavior, she's a master at making herself appear and act in a way that will best obtain the goals she's after. In a way she's a master of disguising her true nature and her actual personality.
-Obtains Superhuman Strength—The ability to be stronger than humanly possible. Linda obtains this ability through genetic experimentation upon herself. This allows her to perform feats of inhuman strength: heavy pulling, lifting that exceeds her body size and mass, putting her at an advantage over her foes or anyone in her way.
-Obtains Superhuman Agility—The ability to have perfect balance and/or perfect equilibrium to a point far in excess to that of a normal human being in Earth's gravity. This means Linda is extraordinarily limber as well as her tendons and connective tissues can become much more elastic than possible. This ability gives her enhanced acrobatic prowess to a point that exceeds even the most accomplished circus aerialists. She also obtains this through genetic experimentation upon herself.
-Obtains Toxikinesis—The ability to manipulate poisons. After excessive genetic research and experimentation Linda is able to give herself this ability. It allows her to secrete a gaseous neurotoxin at will when she breathes. This neurotoxin will render a victim paralyzed (the extent dependent on the amount of gas inhaled) and in high enough doses can kill a victim by paralyzing the lungs, causing the subject to be unable to breathe.
Equipment:
Intern/Student: Laboratory equipment such as microscopes, test tubes, and various and complex chemical solutions as well as research material, books, journal articles, and pedigree charts to sequence and predict gene mutations and patterns. Various textbooks, computers, and technological programs are also used.
Fighting: Carries a .32 ACP for protection and if needed intimidation, she mostly uses under-handed threats and her mind to manipulate her pawns. After experimentation on herself, however, she uses her Superhuman abilities and her ability to secrete neurtoxic gas to defend herself. In hand-to-hand combat she is better at defense than offense, but her attitude often has need for her to be offensive, though she is not as versed in those tactics and so her attacks are chaotic and spontaneous varying from situation to situation.
Weaknesses:
-Is not bullet proof
-Egotistical/Overconfident
-Impatient
-Quick, hot anger that can blind her
-Offensive fighting is not her strong suit
-Doesn't always think her actions through
-Has a habit of stealing other people's scientific work to use for her own purposes.
Background:
Linda Friitawa knew the importance of power from the moment of her birth. Born just outside Gotham to a wealthy family, she knew the glamor of power and prestige early in watching her father and mother as they wielded force in business conglomerates. To her, it seemed as if they ruled the world. Linda, however, was a bane on them. Born with albinism, her appearance was a curse to her family who were obsessed with vanity as well as property and control. They showed her little kindness for her foreign appearance and mostly ignored her. Even her caretakers hardly spoke to her. She was given everything, clothing, toys, and all her heart's desires save the love of her parents. They consulted every doctor to change their daughter's appearance, which caused Linda to hate herself. She despised looking in the mirror and grew to think herself unworthy, but all the while a small voice in her head refused to believe it, but during the early years of her life, this voice was easily ignored and she was a sad, lonely child who knew no friends.
School was little different from her home life at the beginning. Though she was a bright child, Linda was quiet and withdrawn. She was shunned and teased by her early classmates for her looks and often stayed indoors during recess because of her condition. Because of this, she was deprived of much of the social time crucial for children her age, but when her intelligence was discovered, Linda found praise in the voice and actions of her teachers and tutors. She learned to thrive on it and crave the reinforcement, pushing herself to learn more, to do anything that would gain her those smiles and encouragement. This also her gained her the acceptance of her classmates, or what she thought was their acceptance at the time.
Parents and servants who made her feel invisible in her own home, teachers who nurtured her sharp mind, and classmates who she discovered were only friends with her for her intelligence made up Linda's life until she was eleven. It was as if she underwent a personality change overnight, at least to herself, but bitterness does that to a person. It happened when she caught a classmate cheating off her during an exam. It the first domino that would fall. It clearly upset her and after telling her instructor and getting the boy in trouble, she was subsequently cornered in the hall by the boy and his playground gang. They locked her in a dark broom closet, where she was found two hours later in tears. She went home and tried to talk to her parents, but was once again unheard. She had come to realize much earlier that the way her parents treated her was wrong; she'd seen the way a real family was suppose to be, but she thought if she kept getting good grades and excelling in school they would accept her. It was the final straw, but she took no lethal action yet. She took simple revenge and that night laced her mother's food with peanut oil, causing an allergic reaction. It was her first taste of the the power she could wield, knowing the weaknesses of another.
She apologized to the bully who had her thrown into the pitch black closet, and was forced to write him a report for school, which she seemed to accept as the old Linda did, but Linda wasn't the same girl she had been. She wrote the report, disrespecting the teacher and making threats. The child was suspended and his parents sent him to another more disciplining school. The experience taught Linda that she could only trust herself. She pretended to be a proper lady, a kind soul for all her school career, but anyone who crossed her met varying accidents. She never had to dirty her hands either. She learned the power of knowledge and the pleasure of control and decided she would gain as much of as she could.
Linda Friitawa promptly attended Gotham University, supplied by various scholarships and shining recommendations by her former teachers. No one saw the evil lurking behind her smile and when her parents died in a house fire a few weeks after her departure for Gotham, no one suspected her and the fire was ruled an accident, though she was anything but innocent. She had learned her parents' routines and messed with the wiring in the house, knowing that it would sooner than later cause some disaster. When her mother took her customary, Saturday bubble bath that evening, the wiring finally caused a fire, and though it was not her intention, Linda would never regret causing the deaths. She had been burned all her life by those two and now they literally knew her pain. It was poetic justice in her book.
She decided to study medicine, focusing on genetics. The field appealed to her sense of control and offered a way she could perhaps reverse her own genetic condition. She learned the principles of gene expression and the like, always pondering in her head how to use the information to gain control. This led her to her Ph.D. internship with a geneticist named Melina Graves. Though, at first, she had planned to easily fool the woman, Dr. Graves turned out to be sharper than she thought and a suspicious individual who had no tolerance for Linda's objectives which often took priority over her Ph.D. certification—she felt she had all the knowledge she needed anyway. She despised feeling inferior to the woman and planned to one-up her somehow.
Base of Operations:
Gotham
Sample Post:
Linda watched Melina carefully as she spoke, hands gripping the edge of the table. She didn’t want to be caught off guard in case the woman decided to play dirty and attack her after her righteous little speech. She was silent a beat longer after Melina had finished, but when she spoke, it was with a smug grin on her face as it split into amused disbelief.
“Stole his work? You think I stole Dr. Crane’s research?” She snorted. “It was merely a supplement. I was a geneticist long before his own mind even considered such questions as genetic manipulation or susceptibility with regards to his toxin. They were merely a spark to the fire.” She inhaled deeply, before letting out a slow breath.
The exhaled air was a smoky white, hardly discernable, but with the dark surface of the wall behind Linda, the difference was noticeable. “And look what it’s earned me, power and strength, and the ability to exude this toxin.” In a split second she was over the table and had Melina pinned to the floor beneath her. She smirked down at the petite woman before blowing a waft of her neurotoxin into her face. She rolled her eyes in bland amusement at the instantaneous reaction of the woman as she pursed her lips and refused to breathe. She grabbed her nose painfully and held it shut, ignoring the panicked writhing beneath her.
Linda continued to exhale her toxin into Melian’s face, clutching her nose, knowing she was going to have breath eventually. Her chest heated in triumph when she heard the woman’s gasping inhale. She released her nasal passages from her grip and observed the woman.
For a moment nothing seemed to happen, but abruptly she clenched her eyes shut and her body stiffened. Linda casually stood up, brushing off her clothing. “Don’t worry, it shouldn’t be enough to kill you, but the experience will be quite painful and terrifying for you I’m sure.” She wasn’t perturbed by the woman’s refusal to open her eyes nor the absence of her voicing her pain. She knew it was excruciating. If Melina wanted to seem so tough, it was fine by her.
“As your muscles lock up and tense even further, the experience will become even more agonizing. Every muscle system is affected, even the lungs and diaphragm.” She hear the ragged breaths of her victim. “As you’re certainly aware of, that makes breathing difficult and if you scream in pain, the effect will only intensify. This could, and will most likely cause your lungs to collapse.” She gave her a mock look of pity. “You must feel like your suffocating right now, it must be so horrible.” She chuckled.
“Whether you survive or perish, that is up to you. Only you can control your panic and airway so they don’t collapse.” She prodded her with her foot and then ran a hand through her long, platinum hair. “Well, I’d love to stay to watch you possibly suffocate, but I have someone else I’d like to find so I must be going. You understand.” She waved her fingers, though the woman still hadn’t opened her eyes and turned around, the fading sound of her footsteps the only sign to the woman on the floor that she was leaving.
Linda hoped Melinda suffocated on her own spit.
