"Oh." Was all Bruce could actually say. It seemed odd to him to go from one spectrum of work to another one. But Bruce was sure that Pamela had her reasons. Perhaps she enjoyed the work as a whole? She must have a terrific sense of smell to design perfumes.
"Out of curiosity, what has been your favorite perfume to develop?" He asks. Picturing her line of work as something akin to a chemist.
As he was talking to her, Bruce felt intrigued the more he hung around her. He wanted to learn alot more about Pamela, there must have been something in the air because he felt lightly intoxicated and yet he couldn't find the source, or even the meaning of why he was feeling what he was.
Quickly taking a sip of his drink, he hoped the champagne would wake him up a bit.

It isn't Pamela's sense of smell that makes her successful in designing perfumes, but her sense of chemistry. That's why she was so easily able to design the pheromones that linger around her to be so effective. And perfume is really nothing more than an attempt to draw upon the effects of pheromones, though of course she wouldn't dare put anything in the scent she designs for work that would be nearly as effective as her own.
Considering that question for a moment, Pamela eventually says, "You know, I don't think I could pick a favorite, though the most recent is called 'Nightfall'. It's hard to describe the scent - a blend of the extracts from the blossoms of a few of my own hybrids. They're calling it the new Joy." She stops herself there, knowing that if she goes any further she'll probably go off on a tangent that someone not acquainted with perfumes would be unable to follow. Instead she adds, "It's selling well - keeping my employer happy." And keeping the money coming in to match that of her expenses.
Smiling to herself when she sees just how interested in her he's getting, she adds, "Well, I'd better not keep you from your other guests. It was nice meeting you, Mr. Wayne." If she reels him in too far it'll be hard throwing him back, after all.

"Oh, sure." Bruce replies, watching Pamela walk away to mingle with other people. It struck Bruce whether he should ask her for a phone number, but thought better of it. Or to be more exact, it wasn't the right time. To ask flat out would have been a mistake, when she was still grieving.
If her saw her again, then perhaps he'd ask.
"Excuse me Master Bruce, but Ms. Vale is wishing to see you." Alfred approached.
"Right, Vicki." Bruce repeated. Coming to his senses.
"Are you alright sir?"
"If I may say so sir, Miss Isley is quite striking."
"She is, isn't she?"
With that, Bruce walked around the manor, searching for Vicki Vale, finding her in the arsenal room. Bruce greeted her with a handshake and got into some small talk.
