Andrew felt confident. His entire firm might have collapsed because of subprime mortgages but Lehman Brothers couldn't be blamed for the investment. The credit agencies were the true source of the problem. They gave faulty mortgages at high interest rates a good return in investments. Their company was only following the trends of the market. Yes, the days of the company's failure had kept in a panic state, but it was in the past. He might have received hundred of hate mail, but those came from the very people who took out those bad loans. He felt no guilt for the recession, and he wouldn't let the recession hinder his success. He wasn't like Mattie who had glued himself to his bed and given up on life. He was an entrepreneur. He kept going when life threw the world at him.
His upbeat attitude was what actually lead him here in front of the Wayne Enterprise board and the newly return owner, Bruce Wayne himself. "As you can see nuclear energy is truly the future while the scare in Japan has made many hesitant, it does not diminish the overall efficiency of the product. Renewable energy is always an option, but it will never be able to product the amount that American's consume on a daily basis," he said causally as he pointed to his presentation slide on the screen.
He might have been an investment banker for most of his life, but through PPT he managed to put through his own investments. He knew the best market was still in energy. He knew he would see the most profit from it. He decided to leave his days of stock trading and go into business himself. He already convinced a few western cities to use nuclear power. He just needed the financial backing to start building the nuclear plants.
Wayne Enterprise was the third company he had talked to, and if he managed to get their support it would be a flood gate for more investors. He tried to convince Mattie of the wonderful opportunity, but the man wouldn't even move. He looked over the members in the board room. Most seemed very interested, all wanting to increase their profits. He didn't take much notice to Mr. Wayne. His name might be on the outside building, but he was only name. He held no true power in the company anymore. He just ran about the world with the money it made. He turned towards the window behind him for more emphasis. He spoke in a calm voice as he looked at the city below him, "Imagine Gentlemen, Gotham City running on clean effic-" he stopped. His eyes caught something. It was the electric board that he used to watch as he walked to work each morning. It usually had the stock numbers gliding across the screen in a quick pace so no one missed a possible future investment, but today something else was written across it.
What does your wife and the rainforest have in common, Nickleson?
Andrew mouth opened in pure shock. Was that his name? He saw people on rafters trying to fix the board. He saw the message flicker when one of the mechanics started messing with it, but the message was still there. And it still said his name. His wife....it made no sense.
Was this some sort of joke? A sick joke. He had to call his wife. "Uh, I'm sorry to cut this short. I have to go," he said turning away and heading towards the doors. His wife was having a charity even tonight wasn't she? Was it for the rainforest?
