"RATMAN! RATMAN! I got some cheese for ya!"
It was a long shot at getting to the center of the chaos unseen. However there was no turning back now. As the taunts continued Batman formed a plan of attack. There appeared to be seven total: five henchmen, The Joker, and an unknown inmate with a walking cane..he was an unknown variable, was he a victim or a part of The Joker's entourage?
However the unknown man wasn't the main concern, or even the sole henchman nearest him.
Batman remembered the words of a former drill instructor, an old SAS commando still working for Queen and Country.
"Your enemy's action will determine yours."
The first step was to take out the hired goons, they were armed, but with nothing serious. Mostly taser batons and whatever they could get their hands on for weaponry.
At the next bout of taunts from The Joker, Batman acted, leaping down from the rafters and as quick as he could, taking down two of the closest goons. The remaining two formed a protective barrier around The Joker while the man with the cane remained off to one side, seemingly to observe the situation as it was unfolding.
The Batman stared hard into the eyes of the Joker, and saw nothing resembling sanity stare right back.
"Return to your cells, right now." He commanded all of them. Taking a defensive stance, preparing himself for whatever might occur nest.

The Joker couldn't believe what he was witnessing. However he absolutely loved it. “AHAHAHAHA. Seriously?” scoffed The Joker in reply to the man's comments. Slowly with the knife in hand, and two goons in front of him, The Joker strolled toward the man in black. With each step he tossed the knife from hand to hand. His eyes locked in on the man, looking something like the eyes of a crack fiend. His face radiated with a creepy smile that would of sent the average man running.
“A grown man dressed up as a rat..I think maybe you need to return to you're cell ahahha.” He came to a stop about one foot away from the man with the two goons in front of him. “So who the hell are you? By the way, I'm loving the costume, it isn't as good as mine, but hey we all can't be fashionistas now can we aha ha ha.”

"I'm Batman! Back in your cages, now." Batman wasn't going to be intimidated. If need be, Batman would use some excessive force to prove his point. He had taken out two of the Joker's henchmen without much difficulty, which told the Joker something about him, namely that the Batman wouldn't be cower in fear, or even back down at the Joker.
However, Batman surmised that the Joker in return wouldn't back down either. The Batman hadn't come across this kind of persona before; there was madness written all over the personage of the Joker. His features exuded it and the eyes of the madman spoke of it.
Time wasn't on the Batman's side either. The GCPD would be approaching any moment, trying their best to contain the chaos that erupted.
There would be no stalemates tonight.
"Last chance!" The Batman said more forcibly. "Comply peacefully or I take you down."

The Joker stood silently for a moment after hearing what Batman had to say. He looked like a doped up patient lost in a daydream as his head tilted to the side. His face had a blank stare on it as if he was no longer in the hallway. A smile still remained on his face as he held the bloody knife in his left hand.
The lunatic was reconsidering and re-contemplating his escape plan. If the Joker wanted, he could of already escaped a long time ago, but he was a showman and wanted it to be a grand escape. He planned for the cops coming, but Batman was an equation he didn't count for, not even in his plan b. He knew that he was going to escape one way or another. It was just a matter of how to make it an escape that would be remembered for ages.
The Joker knocked on his head with his left hand twice as the answer to his escape plan came to him. Swiftly he slipped back into reality and returned his full attention onto the man in black. “Batman? Pft I like Ratman better!” said the Joker before throwing one of his men into Batman. Using the man as a sort of barrier, The Joker reached over the man's head, wildly swinging a knife at Batman. The other henchmen maneuvered himself behind the dark knight and aimed for him with a knife in hand.

The attack was quick, and unexpected. The Batman grabbed ahold of the first goon facing him, his grip on the left arm tight, then suddenly the Joker swung his knife hand at him, barely missing the Batman's face by mere inches.
To add to his troubles, the second henchman threw himself behind Batman, sending the knife into what would have been Batman's left shoulder. Thankfully the Kevlar bodysuit prevented the knife from going in deep, but still managing to prick his shoulder nonetheless.
The Batman concentrated on the frontward henchman, as the other behind him was trying to put the Batman in a sleeper hold. Quickly the Batman grabbed the frontward goon by his shirt, then somersaulted him onto the pavement, hard. The second goon had surprisingly managed to even wrap his legs around Batman's torso, squeezing as hard as he could muster.
Acting quickly, Batman raised his left arm, then sent his elbow flying into the ribcage of the henchman, there was a short audible 'crack' followed by the henchman howling in pain. The hold on Batman's torso completely loosened...Batman took the arm that was tightly wrapped around his neck and swiftly executed a judo throw, causing the henchman to land ontop of the first attacker. He slowly rolled away, cradling his ribcage; tears streaking down his face.
The Batman quickly dug the knife out of his armor, breaking the blade then throwing the two pieces on the ground. The fight wasn't over and The Batman prepared himself, mentally and physically for the nest round.

The Joker clapped as he backed himself up away from the dark knight. “You know what... I like you, I think we might become best friends ahaha.” As The Joker spoke, the two goons that Batman had first taken out, rose back up. However they knew they couldn't take this man head to head. One of them grabbed a fire extinguisher and sprayed it in the Batman's directing from behind. Once he was done spraying it, he chucked it at Batman. The other goon picked back up a knife and launched it at where he thought the Batman was.
The Joker ran off down the hall. He wasn't running from the fight, but he did find what he was looking for, a patient. Swiftly The Joker grabbed the patient by the neck and pulled him close to his body. Like a ragdoll he slowly dragged the patient with him backwards. He held the knife tightly against the man's neck. Smiling like always, he screamed out to Batman “THIS IS FUN Ahahaha”

The white spray distracted the Batman for a few moments, and that was all it took for the two henchmen to resume the attack, as Batman was turning in the direction of the extinguisher, he suddenly felt something hard hit him right in the side of his face. Obviously the goon had launched the fire extinguisher after the contents were emptied.
Suddenly there was a stinging pain on his right arm, as the mist from the extinguisher began to clear, Batman quickly looked and saw a knife placed a few inches above his elbow. Disorientated by the mist, then the blow of the extinguisher impacting with the side of his face, and now the stab wound; Batman began to feel a sense of panic.
A kick sent the Batman against a nearby wall, while the goon with the cracked ribs began to punch the Batman in the face, he backed up and was going to attempt a kick to the throat or face, but Batman acted quicker...ignoring the pain in his forearm and catching the henchman's foot, then twisting his ankle sharply at 40 degrees, there was a louder crack on his ankle; the henchman howled in pain for the second time and scrambled to the floor.
Angered, Batman wrenched the knife out of his arm, ignoring the sting as the blade was quickly forced out of his skin, the area around his arm would begin to swell. The second goon made a direct run for Batman, but he deflected the oncoming rush by pushing the henchman backwards with both hands, then kicked the goon in the stomach, sending the henchman doubling over in pain, the Batman then sent his knee up into the henchman's face and even before the goon could realize it, he was sent off his feet and onto the floor where he hit his head once more and went into unconsciousness.
The goon with the broken ankle and cracked ribs, tenacious as ever, tried once more to regain his footing. Batman walked over to him and hit the henchman in the back of his head, forcing him into unconsciousness as well.
“THIS IS FUN Ahahaha” The Batman had heard from the echoing corridors. The laughter of the madman seemed to be coming from everywhere all at once.
The Batman glanced down the still swinging double doors the Joker had ran through.
'It ends now.' He thinks to himself, then sprints through the double doors.
And into another nightmare.
Ten feet away from the Batman, there he stood, with a hostage.
"Let. Him. Go." The Batman ordered. " Give up! You'll never escape."

“Never escape? Oh my dear Ratman, trust me, when it's time... I will eeehahaha.” Slowly The Joker continued to inch backwards with the hostage in his arms. The place where the knife was pressed, started bleeding as Joker added extra pressure to the hostage's neck. He wasn't ready to escape just yet, but going head to head with Batman, wasn't in the plans yet either. The Joker needed to be in the right place, at the right time.
“So tell me Rats, tell me why? Why the all black leather condom costume? Why the need to run around and play the hero? What's the obsession with flying rats? I don't get its, it's kinda a little crazy.. must have had a bad childhood? Am I right?” The Joker couldn't help but smile as the words passed through his lips. As he spoke, The Joker inched back towards the kitchen. In that room the next part of his escape plan was going to be set in motion.

"My purpose is to be a symbol for the people of Gotham." The Batman says, with one hand reaching towards his utility belt, grabbing a batarang. "I'm going to show them to stand together against scum like you."
The Joker was buying time. But, for what? As he and his hostage inched closer to the doors of another room. Batman hadn't a clear shot without possibly harming the patient.
Whoever this Joker was, he appeared to have a brilliant mind about him. Psychopathic yes, and dangerous at the same time. It was a shame the madman's mind had snapped; he could have been a positive force for good in the world.
Moving a little bit closer towards the two, then slowing his pace when the knife seemed to go deeper into the inmate's throat.
"Gotham will soon learn that they don't have to be afraid of garbage like you." The Batman taunted, hoping to anger the Joker, possibly letting him make a mistake. "Nobody outside these walls will take you seriously." Batman continued to taunt. And no matter what, I'll always stop you."
