Compared to some of the more pretentious homes of the wealthy in Gotham, the Isley estate is rather modest. But by the standard of any average person, the two story structure and generous grounds around it are definitely high class. The property is surrounded by a six foot high wrought iron fence that's both decorative and functional, leaving a remotely controlled gate with a call-box in front as the only way in for any normal person.
The grounds are well-landscaped, though an observant eye might notice that it's currently in transition between two different styles. Pamela's late parents always preferred to have the landscaping done in a very formal style with clean lines and everything trimmed just so. But her tastes are considerably more... wild, though she hasn't gotten to completely transforming the yard yet.
The mansion itself is made of brick, with large windows and high ceilings. The main living spaces are on the ground floor, which has a very open layout with only a few walls to suggest the divisions between the living room just inside the front door, kitchen, and great room in the back part of the house. A staircase leads upstairs to the bedroom suites, while the basement is devoted primarily to a large room her father used to use as a den and several guest rooms. The entire building is mainly decorated in the muted neutrals Pamela's mother always favored, but Pamela has added in a very large and mixed assortment of potted plants - flowers, bushes, and even a few very small trees - not enough to overwhelm the building, but enough to establish greenery as the dominant theme.
But Pamela is currently in the laboratory, housed in an extension to the back of the mansion on the ground floor. Like any good lab, it's white, clean, and filled with an assortment of chemicals and equipment you'd need to be an expert to understand or use. Two steps away from the back door out of the lab is Pamela's new greenhouse - nearly as big as the mansion and already well on its way to housing her own tropical forest of hybrids. That's what she's been spending a lot of her free time on, when she's not rubbing elbows with Gotham's rich and famous.
In fact, that's what she's doing right now; creating a new hybrid. What she'd learned from Dr. Woodrue was a particular technique for combining characteristics of any number of plants, animals, and other forms of life into a new plant and not necessarily any specifics on how to do it with any one goal in mind. That's something that she's having to work out for herself but, true to how she was always his best student, everyday her skills are improving. But then again, at the moment she feels like she's improving for the sake of improving and hasn't found a direction to go with her craft.
Concentrating on what she's doing, Pamela is blissfully unaware that she's about to be interrupted. But sometimes people need an expert on toxins, and they need one right away.
