He has a blog. He writes emails with all the right punctuations and all the right spellings. Barry doesn't swear. Barry says " Gee Whiz " and " Neat ". Barry wears bow ties. Barry isn't ironically detached. A lot of people call Barry boring. A lot of other people call him stuck in the past. Despite the fact that he's only 25, a lot of people think of him as being older. There's a way about him. A maturity there that most guys his age don't yet have. Barry Allen possess a confidence and an will that is astonishing. He is incredibly dedicated, not only to his friends and family, but the concepts he believes in. Barry Allen believes in justice. Barry Allen believes in truth. Barry Allen believe that deep down inside, people are good and that deserve seconds chances.
Barry Allen is a patient man in a world of dwindling attention spans and short fuses. He is calm and meticulous in even the most pressured situations and while others may crack when the heat is on, Barry thrives when there's only seconds left on the clock and the game is on the line. He is Barry Allen, the fastest man alive...
...and running late.
Abilities:
Superhuman Speed: Barry Allen has demonstrated the ability to run at speeds reaching and exceeding Mach 10, though the upper limits of his speed have not been revealed. . His cruising speeds are subsonic (less than 770 mph; the speed of sound at sea level). This is fast enough to move through most cities and around people without causing too much disruption to the population. At high speed, Barry is also run across bodies of water and up the sides of buildings. Thanks to his speed, Barry Allen has a host of speed related abilities:
Frictionless Aura Barry body is surrounded by what he calls an "aura". His aura protects him and anyone who is running with him or carried by him, from the effects of using his speed. This includes friction and airborne particulate matter. It may also protect him from injury. He does seem to possess some level of superhuman resistance to injury but this does not extend far past normal physical interactions, as received from normal combat.
Superhuman Endurance: Barry can run at accelerated speeds for a significant period of time without tiring or stressing his body. The degree of his endurance is dependent on much energy Barry has at one given period and can be augmented by refueling his body. Barry also posses the ability to accelerate his healing factor while running. It has been postulated that if Barry runs fast enough, he would be capable of healing instantly from injuries.
Expert Detective: Barry is an expert forensic scientist and capable detective.
Expert Chemist: Barry is also an expert chemist.
Equipment:
Costume Ring: Barry used a small ring with a spring-loaded opening. to compress and conceal his costume while operating in his civilian identity. By thumbing a small stud on the side, the top of the ring opened, releasing the costume (chemically treated to shrink), allowing Barry the ability to change clothes at super-speed. The chemical used was designed by Barry himself.
Weaknesses:
Speed Limitations: Despite Barry's ability, he possess both physical and psychological limitations that hinder his ability to move faster than Mach 10. Barry is rarely achieves hypersonic speed in populated areas due to the effects of sonic disruptions and air displacements. Furthermore, Barry has noted some discomfort the faster he goes and as, more than once, hit a "wall " that prevents him from achieving higher speeds.
Mortality: Despite Barry's ability, he can still be injured, afflicted or killed when not in-acting his abilities.
Accelerated Metabolism: Because of his accelerated metabolism, Barry must consume a lot of food to keep his energy up when not running.
Background:
Barry Allen watched as the world passed him by. While the other boys played softball, Barry sat by the window and tinkered with his "First Chemist" playset. While the other boys were going to the Keystone City plaza to hang out and talk to girls, Barry was leading mathletes study groups and reading Ezra Pounds between at the bus stop. While everyone was out drinking in his dorm room, Barry Allen was studying for his final...six months before June. Barry Allen was a smart, slim, quiet man who knew few joys and always took his time.
Raised by Henry and Nora Allen. Sickly as a kid, Barry wasn't much allowed to leave the house, a precedence that Barry much didn't mind as an insular, laid back kid who enjoyed comic, specifically the adventures of The Flash, a love shared by his father. Despite Barry's milquetoast upper middle class existence and non-aggressive stance, he was instilled with strong morals and a good work ethics by his parents. Barry strove his entire life to help people, but his general passivity and slothic physical condition prevented him from becoming a police officer. Shifting his focus, Barry double majored in organic chemistry and criminology, graduating summa cum laude from Sun City University.
Returning to Keystone, Barry soon began a job working as a forensic scientists for the Keystone Police Department, working in the Keystone Metro-Homicides division. During a case, Barry met Iris West. Despite the reporter's on-the-go lifestyle, the two began dating, and Barry was promoted to head forensic investigator of his Precinct. Unfortunately, Barry's career fell into a slump soon after that and for the next year and a half, Barry's life became choked with disappointment after disappointment.
Not long after Barry's father died, a serial killer began stalking the streets of Keystone City, leaving the citizens terrified and the police stumped. Barry's relationship with Iris also suffer, as their lives kept them away from each other. Barry's proclivity for being late didn't help Iris build confidence in their relationship. After one disastrous evening at the carnival, Iris broke off their relationship, just as Barry was prepared to proposed.
Sadden and heartbroken, Barry took solace in his work and later that night began to working on the serial murders. Standing by a shelf of chemicals, Barry is struck by a bolt of lightning which knocks him unconscious. Confused and disoriented, Barry comes to and leaves, suffering limited amnesia and planning to meet Iris for dinner at their favorite diner. On the street, he chases down a bus but soon outpaces it. Astonished by his speed, Barry heads to the diner, but is soon confronted by a bewildered Iris. Barry regains his memory, but not before a waitress accidentally spilled the items of her tray onto Barry. Catching them in mid-air, Barry discovers he has super-speed.
Deciding to use his powers to help humanity, Barry dons a costume similar to that of his childhood hero out of a special fabric of his own design. Keeping it in an special ring, Barry began to fight crime as Keystone City's scarlet speedster. Barry's career first challenge was to take down the Keystone City mob while investigating the Keystone serial killings. Deducing the identity of a killer, Barry was able to stop the crazed killer before he made his next victim of Iris West, though he was only moderately successful at stemming the mob's influence in Keystone City.
Though Barry is unable to win back Iris's affection, the two rebuild their friendship and Barry continues to secretly court her as the scarlet speedster. Meanwhile, Barry has his hands full, as the Flash comes up against an odd assortment of Rogues wrecking havoc in Keystone. The most deadliest of them, Captain Cold, evades his grasp. Despite this setback, The Flash continues to defend Keystone City as the fastest man alive.
Base of Operations:
Keystone City.
Sample Post:
There was time to kill yet so he cut out early from his lunch and headed back into the lab. There was three new files on his desk by the time he came thorough the door. Smitty has mislabeled some samples and Barry had to go thorough the whole batch over again. He could breeze thorough it, but he had decide to take his time. He liked taking things slow and poring over every detail. He kept the police scanner tuned to the opened channel, slid on his headphones and began the act of reprocessing.
It's said times flies when you're having fun, but Barry found nothing fun about these errors he faced. Scott had wrote the initial drafts and Wendell had gone off of his notes, so there were a lot of repeats in the same errors. It became a generational subjectivity and Barry silently corrected. Still, time moved like snapping fingers and when he looked up from his desk it was already four-thirty. The scanner crackled to life as if on cue.
" Cartemp 1, we got a 10-60 in progress at First National. all units respond."
A chorus of " copy that " and " rogers " came thorough clear. The First National Bank of Central City was at least forty-five minutes away in no traffic and Barry looked at his watch, gauging the time it would take to get down there and come back. He wagered five minutes and challenged himself to get there in three. He popped open the top of his small ring he wore on the hand opposite and the air made a sound like a bag in an updraft. No one saw him as he replaced the samples on the desk, but everyone saw the note he left Scott. SLOW DOWN! it read in bright red ink.

At high speed, Barry is also run across bodies of water and up the sides of buildings. Thanks to his speed, Barry Allen has a host of speed related abilities:
- Phasing: Barry possesses the ability to control his speed and angular momentum at the molecular level. While in an intangible state, Flash is immune to any airborne viruses and can breathe regularly. He can also vibrate so fast that light does not reflect off him, rendering him invisible. Barry is also capable of vibrating thorough objects.
- Vortex Creations: By running in a circle at a certain speed, Barry Allen is able to create a vortex with a variety of affects. One effect is pulling the air away from the center in order to suffocate an enemy. Another effect is levitating whoever and whatever was in the center. Barry Allen can also spin his arms to create directed funnels of hurricane-speed winds that can knock down barriers or reduce the speed of a falling object. When putting out forest fires, what Flash does is create a pocket tornado by running around the perimeter of the area. The updraft lowers the temperature inside the funnel and raises the fire off the ground which takes away its fuel source.
- Supercharged Brain Activity: Barry's mental abilities are also increased in speed, simple computations can be done at lightning speeds, and his ability to perform normal feats at increased speeds has allowed him to perform incredible feats. Barry can also read at super-speed. Barry is able to avoid telepathic thought manipulation when he accelerates his brain activity.
- Increased Perceptions: Barry possesses the ability to alter his perceptions so that falling objects can appear to be standing still and can be caught and moved back to their normal position. He can do this so quickly as to have it happen invisibly to the normal human eye. He can strike a single opponent hundreds of times in a second or multiple opponents two or three times in a second. He can disarm or jam any number of opponents weapons before they are even aware of his movement and can hurl small projectiles at hypersonic velocities.
